Requirements

  • Three computers running Windows operating system
  • Starcraft installed on each computer

  2. Run the downloaded installation file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  3. Once installed, launch the mud.band application.

  3. Enter a band name (e.g., "StarCraft Friends") and a description.

  5. At the dashboard, select "Get enrollment token" to get the enrollment token. Copy the token. This needs to be shared with all friends who will join.

3. Joining the Band

All participants (including the band creator) need to join the band:

  1. Launch the mud.band application.
  2. Select the "Enroll" option.
  3. Enter the enrollment token and click the "Enroll" button.
  4. When the enrollment is successful, click "Connect" button.
  5. You'll be connected to the band.

4. Setting Up Starcraft LAN Game

After all participants are connected to the band, set up the Starcraft LAN game.

Troubleshooting

If connection issues occur:

  1. Verify that all participants have joined the same mud.band band.
  2. Ensure that the mud.band application is running in the background.
  3. Check firewall settings to make sure both mud.band and Starcraft are allowed network access.
  4. If problems persist, try restarting the mud.band application or leaving and rejoining the band.

Benefits

The main advantages of this setup:

  • Provides a secure LAN gaming experience over the internet.
  • Uses a private band to ensure only trusted users can access the network.
  • Allows for LAN gaming without requiring participants to be physically in the same location.
  • Enables other LAN functionality like file sharing in addition to gaming.
  • Utilizes a mesh network architecture, eliminating the need for a dedicated host.
